Dunh dunh dunh—it’s that time of year when you’ll want to create a Halloween playlist for your bar. (Insert mwah ha ha bellow, here, while rubbing your hands and flashing an evil grin.) In all seriousness, Halloween is a big deal, especially when it comes to your business. According to the National Retail Federation, 158 million Americans will celebrate the October 31 holiday, and spend nearly 7 billion (yes, billion) on costumes, candy and decorations. Those numbers are ridiculous, but they also mean you’ll have customers at your bar or restaurant eager to celebrate and spend even more. What’s more, when using a service like Rockbot, dwell time and consumption further increases.
So you need a Halloween playlist. Where to start? You don’t necessarily need to play the monster mixes from fifth grade, though a classic here and there won’t hurt. Here’s how Billboard rated the top ten Halloween songs of all time.
Dragula - Rob Zombie
This is Rob ‘Zombie’ after all. Pretty scary—listen to the lyrics.
A Nightmare on My Street - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
This isn’t the official video but enjoy the 80’s treats.
Somebody’s Watching Me - Rockwell
If it were up to us, we’d list this tune first. Classic. Fun. Groovy.
Runnin’ With the Devil - Van Halen
Nothing like a fan favorite to get your bar customers rocking.
Don’t Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
No more cowbell need! This song has just enough awesomeness to get your customers singing along.
Highway to Hell - AC/DC
Oh yeah, we want to rock out to this one.
Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
Perhaps the most 'classic' on this list, Zevon’s tune will appeal to the slightly older customer.
Ghost Busters - Ray Parker Jr.
One of the best things to come out of the 80’s...
Monster Mash - Bobby Pickett and the Crypt Kickers
Perhaps the best Halloween song ever, in our opinion. It’s full of innocence and fun and perfect for all ages.
Thriller - Michael Jackson
Of course. The King of Pop rules. You could host a special Thriller dance contest to this one.
